Remodel Chronicle: The Cake Studio
October 6, 2009
As promised… an update on our remodeling projects. To date the outside painting project is 90% complete, the walk-in cooler/freezer has been erected, and the front porch rebuild should be underway next week. We have been focusing on the outside projects to beat the cold and winter weather soon to be at our doorstep, but did recently complete the “Cake Studio” inside!
BEFORE:
In the 1940’s of the building history, this particular space was an open side porch…hence the original brick wall. In 1996, this “porch” was enclosed and utilized as an additional dining room for the Village Inn Restaurant.
We are so pleased with how it all pulled together–staying true to our black and white company theme. White cabinets, white storage units with frosted glass inserts, black slate counter tops, black and white damask insets, marbleized lighting fixtures…all the elements that went into creating a super chic place for me to design and create cakes and other confections. Check it out!
AFTER:
Thanks to Travis Hohmann Construction for their fine carpentry work, my parents for upholstering the damask window insets, and to my FABULOUS husband for the floor installation, painting, plumbing, wiring, lighting installations and all that other manly stuff that made the room fierce!
