One of the absolute best parts of each and every week that is filled with fabulous events is– working with SUPER talented professionals that we CRUSH on!  Clients continually ask us who we recommend for services, and truly EVERYONE on our referral list is only there because we have personally worked with them and feel that their finished product meets or exceeds our standards.  That said… we are lining up an amazing array of interviews to share with you!

To start the pretty parade… MICHAELWILL Photography.  We have worked with Michael many times, and have enjoyed his capture of the emotion and realness of the day with such beauty!   {Check us both out here having a beautiful time– on Style Me Pretty!}

Q: What inspired you to get into photography?

A: Photography has always been a passion and hobby of mine.  It wasn’t until I was regularly taking photos part-time that I realized I could make a career out of something I loved.

Q: What is your favorite part of what you do?

A: The people.  I am a people person for sure and love that I get to work with couples on such a special day in their lives.  Being able to capture the emotions and personalities of my subjects is what makes my job so much fun.  No wedding/couple/photo is the same and I love that!

Q: Describe your photography to someone who has never seen it.

A: My style is a blend of beautiful portraiture with an emphasis on emotion and real moments.  For example, I want you to have beautiful epic photos that you look amazing in – but I also want you really smiling or laughing in the photo.  Something real, that brings out your personality.

Q: What is your favorite engagement shoot location in the city?

A: I love parking garages.  It’s unconventional for sure, but I’ve always considered them a rooftop view, without having to find a real rooftop.  All of the parking garages downtown have such a cool view of inside the city that you don’t see much.  The lower levels of garages usually have nice lighting and can be a welcome cover during the rain :).

Q: What is the best tip you can give to your brides and grooms?

A:  Grab a few minutes alone on your wedding day and take a lot of mental pictures.  The whole day flies by so fast, I think it’s important to slow down and take it all in.  Also, I’ve had couples escape for a few minutes to a balcony or something and just reset and take the whole day in.  I think it makes it last just a little bit longer and makes the experience that much more special.

Q: What is your favorite ‘burgh wedding tradition?

A: Obviously the cookie table and for equally obvious reasons.

Q: What is a fun suggestion for couples to incorporate in their wedding day?

A: Nothing goes better with a cookie table, than a candy table!  Swedish fish please.  Also, I like unique characteristics in wardrobe or style.  Something that makes it yours.

Q: Share on of your most memorable moments while photographing a wedding.

A: I recently photographed an elopement and it was just myself, the minister, and the couple.  The family skyped in during the ceremony, but it was just the three of us for pictures and everything else.  It was all so intimate and such an honor for me to share something so special with them.  They made me feel like family.

Q:  What is your most important lesson learned from your own wedding?

A:  Something my wife and I learned from our own wedding, was to not sweat the small stuff.  Weddings are very dynamic and things don’t always go as planned.  It’s important to go with the flow and just enjoy yourself.  Once the day is in motion, you have to just roll with it.
