Pantone 2016 Color of the Year
December 3, 2015
Pantone‘s color of the year is….2 colors! The media is dubbing it ?#?OhBaby because the selects are Rose Quartz and Serenity – two beautiful delicate pales shades of pink and blue. “Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Rose quartz

Traits: Gentle, compassionate, composed, reflective, lighthearted.
Like a serene sunset, flushed cheek or budding flower, this hue is said to remind us to reflect on our surroundings during the busy but lighthearted spring and summer months. “This really is a beautiful pink that will radiate well on the skin for women as well as men,” Eiseman said.
Serenity
Traits: Calming, trusting, dependable
Weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky, this transcendent blue provides us with a naturally connected sense of space. “As the name suggests, Serenity is a calming color that plays to the whole idea that we know we’re still living in turbulent times. Blues simply relay that feeling of relaxation,” Eiseman said.
Other comforting, softer colors can be found on the list of top 10 hues for spring, including Peach Echo, Snorkel Blue and Buttercup. The second half — Limpet Shell, Lilac Gray, energy Fiesta, Iced Coffee and Green Flash — hint at more vibrant hues and allow for some unexpected color combinations.
Maybe this transformative and transportive color palette is a hopeful sign of things to come for next year. Softer, kinder, gentler. Therefore, we embrace these softer shades with an open mind!
We can’t wait to incorporating these trendy hues into your event design and have put together some inspiration for this year’s Pantone’s color(s) of the year!
