Outdoor Splendor
August 30, 2010
We love. love. love. outdoor weddings, and with the outdoor season nearing an end, we went full overload of love this past Saturday with two splendid celebrations! First up, Melissa and Eric wed at an intimate ceremony in the garden of a Pittsburgh city gem, The Parador Inn. The word Parador comes from the Spanish meaning “to stop” or “an Inn,” and owner Ed Mentzer operates this caribbean themed bed and breakfast with an unrivaled dedication to hospitality.
After the touching nuptial ceremony, guests happily grazed in the gardens on appetizers butlered by JPC event staff of teriyaki chicken pineapple skewers, shrimp cocktail shots, and feta sundried tomato phyllo, as well as a Tuscan table displayed with crusty breads and dipping oils, tomato bruschetta with herbed crostini, assorted olives, and caprese skewers with balsamic reduction. Guests then made their way into the Parador’s Ballroom located in the back of the gardens which features a stunning mahogany bar and hand painted murals. The dinner menu was serviced with small plates and performance stations and suited all tastes from seafood to pasta: Oven roasted tilapia filet with sundried tomato capanota small plate, Chicken piedmont small plate, Crabcake “cosmopolitans,” fresh organic gazpacho served in espresso cups, pulled pork slider with handcut coleslaw garnish, pasta primavera alfredo small plate, and saladtini performance station.
The three tiered square wedding cake was created by Jody in rolled white chocolate fondant with handmade gumpaste florals and appliques, and blue ribbon garnish. The flavor profile was white with fresh berries and creme and chocolate fudge with raspberry truffle. JPC event staff provided the bar mixer package and bartending services.
A big congratulations goes out to Melissa and Eric with warm wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness together, as well as sincere THANKS to Ed Mentzer (and Razor and RJ) for being such a gracious host. We truly enjoyed working with all of you to create such a lovely, indelible memory!
Now heading off to Greystone Fields in Gibsonia, where we had the distinct pleasure of working with the Alexandranus family, owners of Greystone, for their son Karl’s wedding to lovely bride Jill. The ceremony took place outdoors on the lovely grounds of Greystone Fields in front of the waterfall. Waterbottles with custom logo labels were available for guests in the lovely summer sunshine. After the ceremony, guests entered the Greystone facility to the serenades of a strolling violinist, and a classic appetizer display of fresh fruits, organic vegetable crudite and cubed cheeses. JPC event staff butlered shrimp cocktail shots throughout the facility as well.
The tables were gleamingly set with the china, flatware and cut crystal owned by the Greystone Fields facility. Dinner service commenced with a served salad course accented by platters of salad garnish. Tables were then released to the carving station for our famous slow roasted prime rib and chicken marsala while side dishes of steamed red bliss potatoes with fresh garlic and dill, and herbed haricot verts with olive oil were delivered to the tables in steaming family style bowls.
We were so honored to play a part of such a special day for Karl, Jill, Virginia and Paul, and we thank them for entrusting such a milestone to our care. Congratulations Jill and Karl and much love and happiness in the years to come for both of you!
