And the award for Best Oscars Party goes to …

February 24, 2016

The Oscars are only a few days away, and we are on the edge of our seats to see if our favorite Hollywood heartthrobs will be walking away with golden awards. One of our favorite part of Award Season (aside from the fashion) is the viewing parties! We’ve been scrounging the internet for inspiration and have put together some of our favorite party ideas to help you host the most spectacular Oscars party yet.jpc-oscars-1

Pull out all the stops for an unforgettable night – from homemade ballots and a gold star garland to gourmet popcorn and champagne cocktails, these tips are sure to set the theme for an elegant soiree!

The ballot game is essential to every Oscar-themed party. Everyone fills out their ballots before the show and at the end, find out which guest made the best guesses about that night’s Oscar winners. Find printable ballots at Almost Makes Me Perfect here.

One key element to include on your party menu is popcorn! The talented chefs from our catering division, Savor Fresh Catering, create a variety of delicious gourmet popcorn flavors such as peanut butter cup, birthday cake with sprinkles, and old fashioned caramel, that all make fun party bites or take-home treats for guests.

Set the scene with high-drama florals. Mat Sanders and Brandon Quattrone of Consort Design on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles tell the Los Angeles Times “The Oscars are all about drama! Serve up large-scale arrangements of branches to instantly elevate your space in an upscale way.” We love this look for an Oscar party. It is so regal with the gold and black and the lush rose centerpieces are perfect for a movie star!

Sip on classic cocktails. “The Oscars make me think of the Old Hollywood era, so I love to include some classic cocktails, like a dirty martini, a Tom Collins, or a gin Rickey,” says Los Angeles event planner Yifat Oren.

Or serve a classic champagne cocktail like this one from ChowHound. The inherent beauty of the Champagne Cocktail goes beyond its suave appearance and silken palate. Whereas you would expect to pay a goodly sum for an excellent bottle of champagne, the addition of the sugar and bitters nicely rounds out the bubbly.

Don’t forget party favors! We love these “And the Winner is…” party favors as seen in the Los Angeles times! To make them, simply “wrap gold paper around a chocolate bar, clipping the corners of the top to replicate the taper of an envelope flap,” says Stark. Use an adhesive glue dot to stick a red, cut paper “seal” to complete your Oscars envelope, and send each guest off with one. “The show is long; they’ll be delighted by this pick-me-up on their way home!” says Stark.
