A Marriage of Culture
January 26, 2013

After planning with JPC Event Group from the West coast, Kavya and Adam’s wedding weekend began Friday evening with a rehearsal dinner in the gardens filled with the groom’s favorite cuisine. The family style menu included: Citrus Asparagus Salad with shaved parmesan and field greens, Maple Sugar Ginger roasted loin of pork, Traditional Chicken Marsala, Haricots Vert sauteed with rosemary garlic butter, Potatoes Gratine, Cheese Stuffed Shells Marinara, and an ice cream sundae bar for dessert.
Saturday, June 23, 2012 Kavya and Adam were married on a gorgeous day at The Buhl Mansion with dual Indian and Western ceremonies featuring flower petal rangolis, a custom designed mandap and sarris purchased by the bride in India.

The Indian ceremony was held first in a custom designed mandap created by Bill Chisnell Productions on the lawn of the gardens. Guests were greeted with a chilled water station, fans and parasols as they were seated. All of the elements of the ceremony were blessed by the priest, and Kavya was presented to Adam for marriage surrounded by ritual.

As the wedding party changed into their Western attire, guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers of assorted tofu and vegetable spring rolls with dipping sauces, fresh organic fruit skewers, heirloom tomato bruschetta on herbed crostini, and {the groom’s pick!} bacon wrapped sea scallops with tarragon mousse. Many of the Indian guests and the bride’s family members were vegan and menu items were adapted on their behalf.

The Western ceremony was conducted by a friend of the bride and groom with guests gathered around in the shade of the trees.

Guests were then directed to the tented courtyard to find their seats for dinner. With decor services and rentals by GARNISH Event Design {a division of JPC Event Group} the romantic color palette of regal eggplant, burnished lavendar and gold was highlighted with golden mercury glass, gilded gold picture frames, golden chivari chairs with baroque gold pads and golden chandeliers hung from the fabric lined tent. A mixture of antique ambrosia roses, purple lisanthus, ivory peonies, lavendar snap dragons, little silver spray roses, dusty miller and lavendar hydrangeas were used to create the centerpiece, garden accents and bridal flowers. Adam and Kavya’s bridal florals were accented with picasso eggplant centered calla lillies.

In a marriage of tastes, dinner was served Performance Station Style with a mix of Indian and Western small plate options. Featured on the Western station was Italiano Chicken stuffed with proscuitto and fresh mozzarella in a tomato cream sauce, freshly grilled honey & lemon salmon, roasted vegetable couscous and grilled asparagus. JPC Executive Chef Rohn Sambol expertly created a number of authentic family recipes for the Indian station: Dosa with potato filling, chutney and sambar, Mattar Paneer, vegetable Jalfrezi and grilled naan.

Dancing to the expert DJ services of Elegant Performances {Kirk Dietrich}, cake cutting and late night snacks of tomato basil bisque soup shooters and pulled pork sliders rounded out the lovely wedding day for Kavya and Adam.
